OROMTRIALI brings together a whole series of loosely connected characters in contemporary Tbilisi. The ageing, still glamorous actress Manana has to cope with the loss of attention and financial opportunities, while her 19-year-old daughter seeks her place in the world. Two other people meet in a hospital room: Manana's old friend Rusudan, who lives alone and works as a scientist, and little Anna, who is about to lose her mother. A psychological experiment serves as the emotional focal point, framing the everyday scenes. The silent footage of a woman inspires speculation: Does her facial expression express love, fear, anger, or hatred? Everything seems possible and raises the question of how exactly one is really able to perceive other people. (al)
